For a successful project execution, there is a need for community members to cooperate with contractors, Cross River Representative in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Rt. Hon. Orok Duke, has stated. The NDDC Commissioner made this appeal over the weekend while addressing leaders, women, and youths of Eto Mkpe Yellow Duke community in Akpabuyo local government area of the state.

During his visit to Eto Mkpe Yellow Duke community to inspect the installation of solar lights, Duke emphasized the importance of community cooperation with contractors. He urged the residents to facilitate the installation process, highlighting that the solar lights, though currently limited in number, are part of ongoing efforts to improve the community’s infrastructure.

Duke assured the community that despite the initial insufficiency of the solar lights, plans were in motion to bring more resources to the area. He stressed that allowing contractors to complete their work without hindrance would benefit the community in the long run, as these projects are meant to enhance their quality of life.

In his address, the NDDC representative encouraged the community to maintain a positive relationship with contractors. He pledged that as long as he held the position of NDDC Commissioner, more development projects, including road construction, would be implemented in Eto Mkpe Yellow Duke and surrounding areas.

Duke also took the opportunity to express his support for the Prince Bassey Otu-led administration, describing it as human-centered. He explained that the role of the NDDC is to act as an intervention agency, addressing gaps and complementing the state government’s efforts in critical areas of need.

Community members who attended the meeting responded positively to Duke’s appeal. Several individuals assured the NDDC Commissioner of their cooperation and took the opportunity to request additional projects to further develop their area.

The visit highlighted the importance of collaboration between the NDDC, contractors, and local communities. Duke’s message was clear: community involvement and support are crucial for the successful completion of development projects.

By fostering this cooperative spirit, the NDDC aims to ensure that projects are not only executed efficiently but also meet the actual needs of the communities they serve. Duke’s engagement with the Eto Mkpe Yellow Duke community underscores the commission’s commitment to sustainable development through active local participation.
