The All Progressives Congress (APC) has successfully conducted its party primary on Wednesday, 20th May, 2026 for the nomination of candidate to contest the 2027 general election for Akamkpa I State Constituency seat in the Cross River State House of Assembly.
The primary election, which took place at the Akamkpa Local Government Headquarters, witnessed the participation of party faithfuls across the five wards that make up Constituency I.
Results collated from the various wards and submitted by the ward returning officers to the constituency collation officer showed overwhelming support for Hon. (Ntufam) Okon Owuna, who secured a total of 2,668 votes from the 3,068 registered APC members in the constituency.
Following the collation process conducted by the Collation Officer, Dr. Valentine Ntui, the Returning Officer, Ntufam Rt. Hon. Itaya Nyong, formally declared Hon. Okon Owuna returned as the APC candidate for Akamkpa I State Constituency in the 2027 general election.
Party stakeholders and supporters at the venue described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and reflective of the unity within the APC in Akamkpa Local Government Area.
