The African Table Tennis Club Championship in Tunisia has concluded with resounding success for Nigeria, as the Canaan Table Tennis Club secured a prestigious bronze medal, earning admiration across the sporting world.
The club’s female contingent, the Canaan Queens, showcased remarkable prowess, emerging among the top teams in Africa out of 54 participating countries. Their stellar performance brought immense pride to Nigeria and particularly to Cross River State.
Elated by the achievement, the Chairman of Canaan Table Tennis Club, Rt. Hon. Orok Duke, extended heartfelt congratulations to the team, emphasising that the victory reaffirms Nigeria’s dominance in table tennis and underscores the country’s excellence across multiple sporting disciplines.
“This triumph is not just for the club or Cross River State but for the entire nation. It cements Nigeria’s reputation as a formidable force in African table tennis,” Duke stated.
He also expressed gratitude to Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu for his unwavering support, noting that his encouragement served as a vital source of motivation for the players.
The triumphant team is expected back in Nigeria following the week-long championship in Tunisia.
