Senator John Owan-Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, has extended warm congratulations to the Canaan Queens, the dynamic players representing the Canaan Table Tennis Club of Calabar. Their remarkable performance at the recently concluded African Club Table Tennis Championship in Benghazi, Libya, has garnered widespread acclaim.

In a heartfelt telephone call with the club’s Chairman, Rt. Hon. Orok Duke, Senator Owan-Enoh praised the team’s exceptional representation of Nigeria on the international stage. Their skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament have not gone unnoticed.

Hon. Orok Duke, a steadfast supporter of the team, received a special commendation from the Minister. Senator Owan-Enoh emphasized the pivotal role individual efforts play in fostering sports growth and development in Nigeria. Such unwavering support is essential for nurturing talent and achieving excellence.

The Canaan Queens demonstrated remarkable prowess by defeating Benghazi Al Jahdida of Libya and the Commercial Bank Club of Ethiopia in the Women’s Team Semifinals. Their hard-fought journey led them to the finals, where they emerged as runners-up after a closely contested battle against Egypt’s Petrojet Tennis Club. The final scores stood at 3-1, 3-1, and 3-2.

This achievement not only brings pride to their club but also elevates Nigeria’s standing in international table tennis. Senator Owan-Enoh’s recognition serves as an inspiring call for continued investment and support in Nigerian sports talent.
