The Cross River State representative on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Rt. Hon. Orok Duke, PhD, has congratulated the Executive Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Senator Bassey Edet Otu, on his conferment with an Honorary Doctorate Degree by Modibbo Adama University, Yola, Adamawa State.

The honorary degree, according to the university, was awarded in recognition of Governor Otu’s outstanding contributions to governance, public service, and humanitarian development, as well as his growing influence as a leader whose work continues to positively affect lives across Nigeria.

In a congratulatory statement, Duke described the honour as a timely and well-deserved affirmation of Governor Otu’s leadership philosophy, which he said is rooted in service, inclusiveness, and a clear vision for sustainable development.

“This recognition by Modibbo Adama University speaks to the depth and reach of Governor Otu’s public service,” Duke stated. “His leadership has consistently demonstrated that governance, when driven by purpose and compassion, can deliver real and lasting impact.”

The NDDC board member noted that since assuming office, Governor Otu has adopted a hands-on approach to governance, prioritising critical sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social welfare. According to Duke, these interventions have not only improved service delivery but have also restored confidence in government and strengthened the bond between the administration and the people.

He further stressed that the honorary doctorate goes beyond personal recognition, describing it as an endorsement of the development trajectory of Cross River State and the values guiding the current administration.

“This award reflects positively on Cross River State,” Duke added. “It affirms that the policies and programmes being implemented are gaining national attention and validation, and that the state is once again being positioned as a reference point for responsible and people-centered governance.”

Duke concluded by wishing Governor Otu continued wisdom, strength, and clarity of purpose as he steers the affairs of the state, expressing confidence that his leadership will continue to translate into meaningful socio-economic progress for the people of Cross River State and beyond.
