The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Cross River State Council, has congratulated a former governorship candidate in the state, Engr. Ben Akak, on his emergence as Deputy National Treasurer of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ben Akak was confirmed as the Deputy National Treasurer of the ruling Party at the National Convention of the All Progressive Congress, held at the Eagle square in Abuja.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Archibong Bassey on Saturday, the union described Akak’s emergence at the party’s just-concluded national convention as well-deserved, noting that it reflects his loyalty, dedication, and longstanding commitment to the growth of the party.
The NUJ said Akak’s elevation to a national office is not only a personal achievement but also a proud moment for Cross River State, adding that his political contributions have consistently promoted the interest of the state and the unity of Nigeria.
The statement further noted that Akak, regarded as a prominent political figure, has earned widespread respect among stakeholders through his pro-Cross River stance and national outlook.
“We are confident that Engr. Ben Akak will deploy his wealth of experience, integrity, and dedication in discharging the responsibilities of his new office,” the statement read.
The council expressed optimism that his tenure would contribute significantly to strengthening the APC at the national level while also bringing pride to Cross River State.
The NUJ wished him success in his new role and urged him to continue upholding the values that have distinguished his political career.
