The Akamkpa Local Government Council under the leadership of Hon. (Ophot) Felix Akposi KSJI has commenced the construction of three new classroom blocks at Ikami Primary School, Uyanga Ward, in furtherance of its commitment to repositioning basic education across the local government area.

The project, according to the Chairman, is part of a broader strategy to strengthen learning at the foundational level by providing pupils with a more conducive and structured academic environment. Hon. Akposi has consistently maintained that quality education begins with the right infrastructure, noting that children cannot be expected to excel where facilities are inadequate or overstretched. “By prioritising the development of classroom infrastructure, my administration seeks to address issues of congestion and create a setting that enhances concentration, effective teaching and improved learning outcomes.”

The Chairman believes that a well planned and comfortable school environment remains a critical factor in delivering qualitative education.

“We must be deliberate in our efforts towards education and as part of a broader strategy to strengthen learning at the foundational level by providing pupils with a more conducive structure because quality education begins with the right infrastructure, noting that children cannot be expected to excel where facilities are inadequate or overstretched.”

The initiative aligns with the Chairman’s policy thrust of investing in people centred development, with particular emphasis on primary education as the bedrock of societal progress. The new classroom blocks are expected to serve not only Ikami Primary School in Ikami Village but also the wider Uyanga community.

Education stakeholders in the area have welcomed the development, describing it as timely and impactful. They expressed confidence that the intervention will boost enrolment, strengthen teacher morale and lay a firmer academic foundation for pupils in the community.

With work now underway, the project stands as another practical expression of Hon. Akposi’s resolve to ensure that children in Akamkpa learn in environments that inspire growth, discipline and academic excellence.
