Hon. Felix Akposi Intervenes in Ntebachot Road Crisis, Flags Off Grading Works

In a decisive move to alleviate the long-standing hardship faced by farmers, commuters, and other road users, the Chairman of Akamkpa Local Government Council, Hon. (Ophot) Felix Akposi KSJI, has commenced earthworks and road grading at the Ntebachot axis of the Calabar-Oban-Ekang Road.

The intervention comes in response to the deteriorating state of the road, which has posed a major challenge to economic activities in the area. For years, farmers have struggled to transport their produce, traders have faced disruptions in supply chains, and residents have endured untold difficulties navigating the route, especially during the rainy season.

Speaking on the urgent need for the project, Hon. Akposi emphasised that, while plans are underway for federal intervention on the road, waiting indefinitely is not an option. “We know the rains have started, but their occurrence still allows us to bring relief to our people. The suffering is enormous, and we must rise to the occasion to help our people. We cannot continue to wait for the Federal Government even though plans are underway to work on the road. At the interim, business must go on, farming activities must continue, and our people must access their communities,” he stated.

The grading works, expected to improve road accessibility and ease transportation difficulties, are part of the Chairman’s broader vision for infrastructural renewal in Akamkpa. Having recently marked his first 100 days in office, Hon. Akposi has reaffirmed his commitment to development, promising that no community under his watch will be left behind.

Residents and road users have expressed gratitude for the intervention, noting that the initiative signals a responsive and proactive leadership. As work progresses, the expectation remains high that this intervention will provide the much-needed relief for farmers and traders who rely on the road for their daily activities.
