This is coming following Akiba’s defection from the Labour Party to the All Progressive Congress.

In a statement signed on Saturday by Hon Eyo Nsa Ekpo Esq the chairman of Forum and 12 others, it’s described Akiba’s decision as one that followed the Governor Otu’s “Political mantra”, as well as his recognition of a government that prioritize the progress of the State.

The Forum also disclosed that his decision to defect from the Labour Party is not a reflection of disloyalty to the party that facilitated his electoral victory in 2023, ” Instead, it is a response to pressing national dynamics within the Labour Party and an earnest desire to be part of a purposeful leadership that delivers tangible results for his constituents”.

“Hon. Akiba’s decision to join the APC is a testament to the transformative leadership and vision of Governor Bassey Otu. Inspired by the governor’s political mantra, The People’s First, Akiba has recognized the unique opportunity to align with a government that prioritizes the welfare and progress of the people of Cross River State.

“Governor Otu’s administration has set a clear path for inclusive development, transparency, and the collective good, and Hon. Akiba’s disposition reflects his commitment to these shared values.

“We acknowledge that Hon. Akiba’s decision to leave the Labour Party is not a reflection of disloyalty to the party that facilitated his electoral victory in 2023.

” Instead, it is a response to pressing national dynamics within the Labour Party and an earnest desire to be part of a purposeful leadership that delivers tangible results for his constituents. Put differently, His defection demonstrates his dedication to advancing the interests of his constituency within a more conducive political environment.”-The forum said.

While thanking Akiba for joining the APC, the CRSCF assured Akiba of unwavering support support and collaboration.

“As Hon. Akiba transitions into the APC, the CRSCF assures him of unwavering support and collaboration. We believe that his vast experience, legislative acumen, and commitment to the people will further strengthen the APC in Cross River South and beyond. Together, we will continue to uphold the principles of good governance and the collective progress of our people.

“Once again, we welcome Hon. Akiba to the APC family and look forward to the impactful contributions he will bring to the party and the people of Cross River State. “-The forum concluded.
