As Nigerians across the country mark the nation’s 64th Independence Day, Pastor Patrick Asikpo Okon, the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Secretary for Cross River State, has extended heartfelt commendation to His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State, and his deputy, His Excellency, Peter Odey, for their exemplary leadership since assuming office. In his Independence Day message, Pastor Asikpo praised their administration’s unwavering commitment to uplifting the people of Cross River.

He noted that the governor’s recent signing of the State Electoral Act demonstrated a responsive government that listens to the pulse of its citizens. The timely passage of the act paves the way for the upcoming local government elections across all 18 LGAs, which Pastor Asikpo highlighted as a major step towards deepening democracy at the grassroots level.

Pastor Asikpo lauded Gov. Otu’s “People First” approach, which has prioritised policies that reflect the needs and aspirations of the people. He expressed gratitude to the governor for continuously consulting with stakeholders, showing that the current administration remains closely aligned with the vision and desires of the Cross Riverians.

In his message of hope, Pastor Asikpo reassured the people of Cross River and Nigeria at large that brighter days lie ahead. “Nation-building is a gradual process, and while the journey may be challenging, there is no doubt that reformation takes time. Nigeria will rise to its full potential, thanks to the sacrifices and understanding of its people,” he said, urging citizens to remain steadfast and committed to the nation’s progress.

The APC scribe also took time to acknowledge the immense contributions of the governor’s wife, Her Excellency, Mrs. Eyoanwan Otu, whose support has been instrumental in driving the administration’s successes. “Her Excellency’s unwavering dedication behind the scenes has complemented the governor’s efforts in ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every nook and cranny of the state,” Pastor Asikpo added.

Speaking directly to the people of Cross River, Pastor Asikpo praised their patriotism and enduring spirit in supporting the administration’s efforts towards the state’s development. He called on them to continue to stand behind Gov. Otu’s leadership, assuring them that the fruits of their trust and patience is already manifesting in tangible progress witnessed so far.

“We are witnessing a transformation in governance that truly puts the people first,” Pastor Asikpo remarked. “Gov. Otu and his deputy, Peter Odey, have shown exceptional resolve in pushing through reforms that will benefit not just the present generation, but future ones. Cross River is on the path to greatness, and together, we will make history.”

He further stressed the importance of unity and collective effort, noting that Cross Riverians have always been known for their resilience. “In the face of challenges, our people have never wavered. Your patriotism, understanding, and faith in this administration are the bedrock of our progress.”

As Nigeria celebrates another year of independence, Pastor Asikpo expressed optimism about the future of both the state and the nation. He urged citizens to stay hopeful, as the government continues to work towards delivering on its promises, ensuring that Cross Riverians will soon reap the full dividends of democracy under the stewardship of a governor who places the people’s welfare at the forefront.

In conclusion, Pastor Asikpo reaffirmed his belief in the leadership of Gov. Otu, noting that the state is in capable hands. He wished all Nigerians, especially the people of Cross River State, a happy Independence Day, urging them to remain hopeful for a prosperous future.
