Cross River varsity resumes academic activities after indefinite strike

The University of Cross River State, has announced the suspension of its indefinite strike, allowing academic activities to resume immediately.

The decision was reached following a stakeholders meeting held on Monday, at the University campus.

The meeting was convened to review the resolutions of a conciliation meeting between the State Government and the Academic Staff Union Of Lecturers UNICROSS branch, which bothers on payments of salaries, 25% minimum wage allowances and other benefits.

In an official statement issued on Tuesday morning, Victor Ene the University Registrar, confirmed that all students and lecturers are directed to resume immediately.

Ene disclosed Students who fail to pay up their fees and register their courses within the stipulated period will not be allowed to sit for the examinations.

“This is to inform Students and other Stakeholders in the University of Cross River State that Management at its meeting held on Monday, 17th March 2025 considered and approved that all students should return to school from the indefinite break with effect from Wednesday, 19th March 2025.

“Students should take note of the following directives:

“Academic Activities will resume immediately upon return. Consequently, all outstanding continuous assessments will take place from Thursday, 20th March, 2025.

“Students are expected to attend revision lectures and complete necessary course work from Monday, 24th March 20245.

“Payment of outstanding school fees and registration of courses which start immediately upon return will end before commencement of examinations. Students who fail to pay up their fees and register their courses within the stipulated period will not be allowed to sit for the examinations.

“The ‘No Fee No Examinations’ Policy of the University is still in force.

” Students are advised to follow the revised Academic Calendar that will be released by the University for proper guidance on academic activities.

“Students are encouraged to take their studies seriously and adequately prepare for the forthcoming examinations in order to achieve academic success.”-It reads.
