The Northern Cross River State Elders’ Forum has postponed its meeting earlier scheduled to hold on May 1, 2026, in Calabar, citing a clash with other official engagements involving its members.
The meeting, which was to take place at the Metropolitan Hotel, Calabar, was called off due to the participation of some members in state-related activities scheduled for the same period.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Forum’s Secretary, Leonard Anyogo, the group said the decision was reached after considering the importance of full participation by its members.
“The postponement is due to the schedule of events in the state wherein some members of the forum are participating,” the statement read.
The forum expressed regret over any inconvenience the development may cause to members and invited stakeholders, assuring that a new date would be communicated after due consultation.
“The forum regrets the inconvenience this postponement may cause. A new date will be announced in due course after appropriate consultations with the Chairman of the Forum,” the statement added.
The Northern Cross River State Elders’ Forum plays a key role in providing advisory input on socio-political and developmental issues affecting the northern part of the state.
