The organized Labour in Cross River State has suspended its strike action following the approval of a new state 70,000 naira minimum wage by Governor Bassey Otu.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the labour union, where it announced that the planned strike had been put on hold due to the Governor’s approval of the new minimum wage.
The labour union had earlier threatened to embark on a nationwide strike to press home their demands for a new minimum wage.
It reads “Whereas a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between State Government and Organized Labour for implementation of the New National Minimum wage, the indefinite strike planned from Monday December 2,2024 is hereby suspended with immediate effect.
“The action committee commend all workers for their strict compliance which accounted for our huge success.
It is expected that all workers will resume normal duties in thors places of work from Tuesday December 3, 2024 as directed by Congress “.
