The Canaan Table Tennis Club of Calabar, representing Nigeria at the ongoing African Clubs Championship in Tunisia, has recorded another impressive victory, defeating the Challengers of Madagascar in a thrilling contest.
This latest triumph follows their hard-fought win against Grappes d’Or de Grombelia of Tunisia in their previous encounter, solidifying their dominance in the prestigious continental tournament.
The Canaan Queens were chosen by the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) to fly the country’s flag at the 2025 African Clubs Championship, currently taking place in Tunis from February 22 to 24, 2025. Their outstanding performance so far has sparked optimism about their chances of clinching the title.
Reacting to the team’s success, the Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh, commended the Canaan Queens for their remarkable display, describing their victories as a testament to their hard work and resilience.
“I congratulate the Canaan Queens for their resounding victory so far at the tournament. Their determination and skill have been exceptional, and I am confident they will make both the state and the country proud,” he stated.
The minister also acknowledged the Cross River State Governor for his unwavering support of the team, noting that such backing is instrumental in fostering sports development and raising Nigeria’s profile on the international stage.
With momentum on their side, the Canaan Queens are now setting their sights on their next challenge, as they prepare to face Petrojet of Egypt later today in what promises to be a decisive showdown.
