The Chairman of Akamkpa Local Government Council, Hon. (Ophot) Felix Akposi KSJI, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to steering the council towards unprecedented progress and development. Akposi made this known during a recent interface with staff of the council, where he expressed gratitude to God for the strides achieved so far while outlining his vision to elevate the council to an enviable pedestal.

In his opening remarks, Akposi underscored the indispensable role of teamwork in driving the transformation agenda of the local government. “The task of turning around the fortunes of a place requires collaboration and teamwork. We must all contribute our quota in changing the narrative for the good of all,” he stated passionately.

A key highlight of his address was his emphasis on maintaining the right attitude to work. He decried laxity and warned that indifference to duty would no longer be tolerated under his administration. “Proper work ethics must be upheld. Workers must put their jobs first before any selfish interest,” Akposi charged, adding that a culture of discipline and diligence was critical to achieving collective goals.

Akposi also addressed a longstanding issue concerning discrepancies in pay points and the local government of engagement for some staff. He urged affected workers to immediately regularise these anomalies, describing such steps as essential for operational harmony.

Speaking on infrastructural challenges, the chairman lamented the deplorable state of facilities within the council, the absence of service vehicles, and the unkempt environment. However, he assured the staff that significant progress was already being made to reverse these setbacks. “We are taking deliberate steps to change the narratives. Improvements in the council’s outlook are just the beginning of the transformation journey,” he remarked.

The interaction also provided an opportunity for staff members to voice their concerns and commendations. Many lauded the chairman for his proactive leadership, pointing to the tangible changes in the council’s facelift as evidence of his commitment. Others appealed for enhanced welfare packages and logistical support to navigate difficult terrains during official assignments.

In his response, Akposi pledged to prioritise workers’ welfare, describing it as a fundamental incentive for productivity. “Your welfare is not just a necessity; it is the icing on the cake to ensure optimal performance. Rest assured, we will leave no stone unturned in this regard,” he assured.

The chairman further called on the staff to live up to their responsibilities, stressing that a collective resolve to excel would foster sustainable growth. “If we all bring our best to the table, there is no limit to what we can achieve as a team,” he added.

Reflecting on his administration’s resolve, Akposi reiterated his desire to lead with integrity and purpose. “My administration is committed to delivering good governance. Together, we shall build a local government that is a model for others,” he declared.

The meeting concluded with mutual expressions of optimism, with staff and management pledging to align with the chairman’s vision for a rejuvenated Akamkpa Local Government Council.
