Akamkpa Local Government Council has set a remarkable precedent for 2025 by beginning the year with a spiritually charged solemn assembly held at the council hall. The event, organised in collaboration with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), was spearheaded by the CAN Coordinator in Akamkpa, His Lordship, Bishop (Dr) Martins Aquah, and witnessed a profound manifestation of God’s presence.

The Chairman of the Council, Hon. (Ophot) Felix Akposi, KSJI, in his address during the assembly, described the event as a symbolic call to service, unity, and shared commitment. Drawing inspiration from the theme, “Let down your net for a catch,” Hon. Akposi urged all present to embrace faith, perseverance, and collective effort in the quest for transformative governance.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising good governance through transparency, accountability, and people-centred initiatives. The Chairman outlined plans to focus on infrastructural development, security, agriculture, quality education, healthcare, and youth empowerment. He emphasised the need for teamwork among council staff, urging them to set aside personal differences and work in unison for the progress of Akamkpa.

“No vision can be achieved without a dedicated and cohesive team,” Hon. Akposi stated, adding that 2025 presents an opportunity for all stakeholders to recommit themselves to excellence, innovation, and service. He concluded with a prayer for divine guidance and blessings to crown the efforts of his administration.

The spiritual essence of the event was further enriched by a stirring homily delivered by Rev. Fr. Malachy Ephraim, who expounded on the theme of the assembly. He lamented the underdevelopment of Akamkpa, despite its abundant natural resources and vast landmass, and decried its status as an educationally disadvantaged local government area.

Rev. Fr. Ephraim challenged the leadership of Akamkpa, through the Chairman, to seek divine intervention through repentance, fasting, and prayer. He described the administration as a “new face of Akamkpa,” capable of transforming the fortunes of the local government. He also urged Hon. Akposi to put God first in all decisions, assuring that divine favour would accompany his leadership.

The prayer session, led by Bishop (Dr) Martins Aquah, was a solemn yet powerful intercession for the leadership of Akamkpa, the state, and the nation at large. Over fifty clergy men and women graced the occasion, taking turns to offer fervent prayers for peace, prosperity, and progress.

As the prayers concluded, the Chairman and his team proceeded to dedicate his office and other administrative offices, marking the official commencement of activities for the year. This symbolic act underscored the administration’s resolve to begin the year with divine backing and renewed purpose.

The assembly was a testimony to the unity of faith among the people of Akamkpa, with participants drawn from various denominations. The CAN Coordinator commended Hon. Akposi’s commitment to integrating spirituality into governance and expressed optimism for a transformative era under his leadership.

Clergy members present hailed the event as a historic moment for Akamkpa, emphasising the need for the council to sustain its reliance on God. They also prayed for wisdom and strength for the Chairman to navigate the challenges of governance and deliver impactful results.

The event concluded on a high note, with attendees expressing hope that the spiritual foundation laid would propel Akamkpa to greater heights in 2025. The solemn assembly not only unified the council but also set a tone of faith, hope, and commitment for the year ahead.

As Akamkpa Local Government embarks on its journey for 2025, the solemn assembly remains a powerful reminder of the enduring importance of divine guidance in leadership and governance.
