The Executive Chairman of Akamkpa Local Government Council, Hon. (Ophot) Felix Akposi, KSJI, on the 29th of October, 2025 presented the 2025 Revised Budget, tagged “Budget of Consolidation,” to the Legislative Council during a formal session held in the hallow chamber of the Legislative Block.

The Chairman explained that the budget revision was necessary to accommodate increased recurrent expenditure arising from the new minimum wage, an expanded state workforce, and a rise in political appointments.

Originally pegged at ₦7.1 billion, the budget has now been revised upward to ₦11,026,055,069.00 to address emerging fiscal needs and sustain ongoing developmental projects across the local government area.

A breakdown of the revised figures shows ₦1.9 billion for personnel cost, ₦340 million for overhead, ₦589 million for consolidated revenue fund charges, and ₦8.1 billion for capital expenditure.

Hon. Akposi emphasized that the revised budget focuses on revenue generation and infrastructural consolidation aimed at boosting socio-economic growth, attracting private investment, and creating employment opportunities in Akamkpa.

“In line with His Excellency’s People First Mandate, we are committed to promoting peace, ensuring a safe environment for business, and fostering collaboration with MDAs to drive development,” he said.

Highlighting major projects already executed or ongoing in 2025, the Chairman listed the construction of market stalls, renovation of executive offices and the Chairman’s residence, grading of 23 kilometers of rural roads, ongoing drilling of 40 boreholes across the ten political wards, and the ongoing construction of the new legislative chambers.

Sectorally, the revised budget allocates ₦1.86 billion to the Economic Sector, ₦1.91 billion to Social Services, ₦1.06 billion to Environment and Regional Development, and ₦1.63 billion to General Administration.

The Chairman expressed appreciation to the councilors, executive members, staff, and community stakeholders for their cooperation and support, urging the Legislative Council to expedite consideration and approval of the budget.

He concluded by reaffirming his administration’s resolve to deliver tangible results and consolidate progress across all sectors of the local government.

“Together, we will continue to build a stronger and more prosperous Akamkpa,” he said.
