General Overseer of the Christian Central Chapel International, Archbishopship Emmah Isong, has stated that Nigeria lacks the political will to fight terrorism, and canvassed support for the Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu in order to move the state forward.
The cleric made this statement during a prayer interaction by the Semakemek Support Group, which is calling for an end to bloodshed in the country.
Isong believes that the planned intervention in the country’s rising insecurity is from God stressing that Nigeria needs the support of the United States of America to end the situation.
He emphasized that Nigeria cannot fight international terrorism without the US, citing their experience in such matters.
The Archbishop also explained that the prayer group, which has been in existence for over two years, was formed to bring Christian leaders together to speak with one voice.
He stressed that the church is not overstepping its boundaries, but rather, it is its responsibility to speak out on political developments in the society.
During the prayer summit, the group honored the Chief of Staff to the Cross River State Governor, Emmanuel Ironbar, and the Speaker of the State Assembly, Elvert Ayambem, with the Shield of Faith Award.
Ironbar dedicated his award to Governor Senator Bassey Otu and requested increased prayers for the governor to enable him to deliver on his mandate.
