The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Anthony Owan Enoh.

According to the statement, Obogo’s appointment is part of the administration’s strategy to bolster its communication apparatus.

“His Excellency, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State, has approved the appointment of Mr. Linus Obogo as Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor,” the release stated. “Obogo’s appointment is in line with the administration’s commitment to strengthening its information machinery for effective and responsive communication.”

Mr. Nsa Gill, who served as Chief Press Secretary under the current administration, returns in a new capacity as Special Adviser on Public Affairs.

“Similarly, the Governor has appointed Mr. Nsa Gill as Special Adviser on Public Affairs. Mr. Gill is expected to deepen the interface between government and the public, ensuring clarity, engagement, and transparency in policy communication,” the statement added.

Both appointments take immediate effect.

Until his reappointment, Mr. Gill was a former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Cross River State Council. He also served as a journalist with The Nation newspaper.
