Akamkpa, Cross River State – As the local government elections draw near, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is rallying support behind Ophot Felix Akposi (KSJI), a distinguished leader with a proven track record of service and commitment to community development. Akposi, who is contesting for the chairmanship position in Akamkpa Local Government Area, has outlined a robust plan aimed at fostering transparency, economic growth, and social welfare.

In his mission statement, Akposi emphasized a dedication to advocating for the rights and needs of the people. “Our goal is to empower local communities through sustainable agricultural development, quality education, accessible healthcare, and strategic partnerships,” he said, further highlighting his focus on peace and security as pillars for a prosperous future. His campaign mantra, “Serve the People – Mark 10:45,” encapsulates his approach to leadership, grounded in service and accountability.

Akposi’s vision for Akamkpa LGA is clear: “We aim to build a thriving, peaceful society where every citizen is empowered through education, agriculture to sustain our economy, healthcare is accessible, and strong partnerships to foster innovation, unity, security, and lasting prosperity.” This vision is underpinned by his extensive background in various sectors, including agriculture, education, and community development, which have equipped him with the skills to lead effectively.

A Knight of St. John International (KSJI), Akposi is celebrated for his principles of faith, charity, and fraternity, qualities that resonate throughout his leadership journey. From Uyanga Model Town in Akamkpa, he has garnered experiences across both governmental and non-governmental sectors, making him a versatile and grassroots-focused leader. His ability to connect with people, combined with his down-to-earth personality, has earned him the respect of his community.

Why the People Should Vote for Akposi Akposi’s campaign is built on six core pillars designed to uplift Akamkpa LGA and address its most pressing issues. Central to this is his commitment to Good Governance and Accountability. He plans to implement transparent leadership practices, such as regular town hall meetings and open budgeting, to involve community members in decision-making processes. “Our administration will ensure that every decision reflects the people’s voice,” he assured.

Focus on Infrastructure and Economic Development Improving infrastructure is at the heart of Akposi’s agenda. He intends to upgrade rural roads to enhance connectivity and support local businesses. Additionally, he plans to stimulate job creation by promoting small businesses, offering training programs, and establishing a business development fund. “By expanding local markets and creating trade opportunities, we can boost economic activities across the region,” he stated.

Empowering the Youth Through Education Recognizing the importance of education, Akposi has committed to renovating schools, providing essential learning tools, and implementing youth skills acquisition programs. “Our administration will partner with both the private and public sectors to organize vocational training, equipping young people with the skills needed for employment,” he said. Scholarships and bursaries are also part of his plan to ensure equitable access to education, particularly for students from low-income backgrounds.

Prioritizing Healthcare and Social Welfare Akposi’s administration will prioritize the improvement of primary healthcare facilities, with a special focus on maternal and child healthcare. He also plans to establish social welfare programs to support the elderly, people living with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups. “Accessible healthcare is a fundamental right, and we will make sure that our citizens receive the care they deserve,” Akposi affirmed.

Revitalizing Agriculture and Rural Development As agriculture remains a vital part of the local economy, Akposi aims to support farmers with subsidies, tools, and modern techniques. He also plans to encourage the formation of cooperatives, giving farmers better access to markets and financial resources. “Our focus will be on boosting productivity and ensuring that our farmers have the resources they need to succeed,” he emphasized.

Security and Peacebuilding Initiatives To enhance security, Akposi will work closely with local security agencies and promote community policing. He believes that engaging youth in security efforts can help reduce crime and foster peace. “Establishing a local peacebuilding and conflict resolution committee will be key in addressing disputes and promoting harmony,” he remarked.

A Comprehensive Implementation Strategy Akposi’s approach includes thorough needs assessments and regular town hall meetings to ensure that policies align with the real needs of Akamkpa’s residents. He plans to collaborate with local stakeholders, NGOs, and international organizations to attract funding and expertise for development projects. “By fostering partnerships and conducting regular monitoring, we will build a responsive and accountable government,” Akposi explained.

As the election approaches, Ophot Felix Akposi (KSJI) remains steadfast in his mission to serve, promising a leadership style that is transparent, inclusive, and focused on the long-term prosperity of Akamkpa LGA. His message to the electorate is clear: “Vote for a future where every citizen is empowered, every community thrives, and every voice is heard.”
