The donation was presented by Lafarge’s Regional Manager for South South, Dr. Inyang Inyang, to the Chairman of Akamkpa Local Government Council, Hon. (Ophot) Felix Akposi KSJI.

Hon. Akposi, who has taken bold steps to revive the once-moribund Akamkpa United FC, noted that the gesture came at a critical time as the club prepares to participate in future competitions. He thanked Lafarge for the timely intervention, stressing that Akamkpa United is not only about competing but also about discovering and nurturing young football talents.

Hon. Akposi, who recently took steps to resuscitate the once-dormant Akamkpa United FC as the club recently participated in the just-concluded Cross River State League, described the support from Lafarge as timely and strategic.

“Very soon, we will join other teams to compete in the famous Governor’s Cup. We need to have all that we need available at our disposal. These kits are very timely as they address a critical aspect of our preparations,” the Chairman said.

He stressed that the rebirth of Akamkpa United FC was not just about competition but about creating a platform for youth empowerment.

“Akamkpa United is not only aimed at competing in various competitions in the state but is geared towards nurturing young talents and exposing them to various opportunities in a footballing career,” he added.

In his remarks, Dr. Inyang Inyang thanked the Chairman for his open-door approach and reaffirmed Lafarge’s commitment to community partnership.

“We believe in advocacy and partnership, and so far our relationship with your office and your person is very cordial. Your prompt response to situations is top-notch. It is our firm belief that our success in business will be mirrored in the growth of this team,” he said.

The highlight of the event was the formal presentation of the kits to the Chairman, followed by a photo session with the Lafarge delegation.
