Gov. Otu a unifying political arrowhead

Dorncklaimz Enamhe, a university don and noted social and political commentator, has lauded Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu for his inclusive parley with National Assembly members from the state, regardless of their political affiliations.

In an exclusive interview, Enamhe stated, “When you consider the self-centered and myopic politics we witnessed in this state not too long ago, it is soul-lifting to see Otu clearly demonstrate with this parley that working with all members of the National Assembly is an enterprise that will benefit our state. Wasn’t it unthinkable to see someone like Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe in the same picture with Ayade in Peregrino House? Sincerely, there is now a greater sense of belonging among these representatives in Abuja because of this well-thought-out engagement approach, and our governor must not just stop there, he must put them to positive task, to identify what we can get from the center and conclusively pursue the same.”

Enamhe emphasized the importance of continued support for Governor Otu’s efforts, noting, “Without a doubt, Otu must be encouraged on this path because so much has passed our state while personal and government funds, as well as energy, were wrongly deployed in political disagreements that polarized us.”

On the governor’s efforts to attract investors to Cross River State, Enamhe praised the recent business roundtable conference held in Abuja. He remarked that such engagements indicate that the governor has a comprehensive business development plan for the state, which is crucial for its economic growth.

Commenting on the recent impasse in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Enamhe acknowledged the governor’s role in mitigating the situation. He warned that the principal actors in the conflict must remember that they did not vote themselves into office but carry the people’s mandate. Therefore, they must always align their attitudes with the positive expectations of the populace.

In congratulating Governor Otu on his first year in office, Enamhe, the mastermind behind the “Think Cross River” initiative, wished the governor well. He further urged Otu to deliberately embrace actions that will promote good governance, sustain developmental efforts, and improve the welfare of average Cross Riverians, who are currently under economic strain.
