In a significant stride towards enhancing community infrastructure and security, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has made substantial progress in the distribution of solar street lights across Cross River State. This initiative, spearheaded by the State Representative, Rt. Hon. Orok Duke, has seen widespread deployment of these solar-powered lights to various communities and essential stakeholders, including recent installations at the police headquarters and other police divisions.

Rt. Hon. Orok Duke has been instrumental in ensuring the effective distribution of these solar street lights, emphasizing the importance of sustainable energy solutions in improving public safety and community wellbeing. His proactive approach has garnered praise from local leaders and residents alike, highlighting the tangible benefits of the NDDC’s initiatives in the region.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Daniel Sokari Pedro, mni for South, during a commendation event, lauded this initiative, noting the critical role these lights play in crime prevention and community safety. He revealed that Cross River State now boasts the lowest crime rate in the southern region, attributing this achievement to the enhanced security infrastructure, including the newly installed solar street lights.

Similarly, the Commissioner of Police for Cross River State, CP Gyogon Grimah Augustine, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the positive impact of the solar street lights on the state’s overall security landscape. He stated that the deployment of these lights has significantly contributed to reducing crime rates, making Cross River State the safest in the South-South Geo-Political Zone.

The installation of solar street lights at the police headquarters and various divisions is a strategic move aimed at bolstering security measures and providing a safer environment for both law enforcement officers and the general public. These lights ensure better visibility and surveillance, deterring criminal activities and enhancing the operational efficiency of the police force.

Governor Bassey Otu has also been commended for his leadership and support of the NDDC’s initiatives. Under his administration, there has been a concerted effort to prioritize infrastructure development and security enhancements, fostering a safer and more prosperous environment for the citizens of Cross River State.
