The Nigeria Diaspora Business Network, in collaboration with Pillars of Equity, has endorsed Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu for a second term.
The group , praised his transformative leadership in education, security, tourism, infrastructure, and employment generation.
The endorsement was announced on Monday at the Ernest Baseey Press Center, Calabar, by Kenneth Etim, Director of Finance and acting Chairman of the group.
Addressing journalists, Etim debunked claims that the group is politically motivated or government-sponsored. “Let me be clear: we are not a political group, and we are certainly not sponsored by the government. Our mandate is to support good governance, not to chase political office,” he said.
He added that while the group works in collaboration with the government, it maintains an independent stance. “We work in synergy with the government, and we commend President Tinubu for his initiatives. But make no mistake, if the government fails the people, we will not hesitate to speak up and hold them accountable. Our support is sincere, but it is conditional on results,” Etim emphasized.
Highlighting the governor’s achievements, he said, “Leadership is not a piece of cake, but Governor Otu has delivered. Schools have been renovated, roads improved, tourism sites revived, and security strengthened. One good outcome deserves another, and this is why we are backing him for 2027.”
He also praised the performance of the state’s first-time senator. “In just two and a half years, our senator has sponsored 22 bills and raised eight motions. He has delivered scholarships, constituency road projects, and empowerment programs across the state. This is the kind of leadership our people deserve,” Etim said.
The network urged residents to participate in the mega rally scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Main Avenue, Primary School, to celebrate the state’s achievements and mobilise support for continued development.
“The progress we have seen under Governor Otu deserves continuity. Let’s join hands to take Cross River to the next level,” Etim concluded.
