A prominent PDP chieftain and former Chairman of Labour Party in Cross River State, Austin Ibok, has declared that his party will not be deterred by defections, vowing to defeat the ruling APC, President Bola Tinubu, and Governor Bassey Otu in 2027.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Ibok emphasized that the PDP is prepared to face the challenges ahead, leveraging every available platform to ensure a robust opposition.
“We are ready to reclaim our mandate and restore hope to the people,” he said.

The PDP, he noted, will intensify efforts to mobilize support, strengthen grassroots structures, and engage with Nigerians on critical issues affecting the nation.

With a clear focus on good governance, accountability, and inclusivity, Ibok expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious in 2027, ending the APC’s dominance.

This came as he congratulated Senator Jarigbe Ogom Jarigbe on his impressive performance in the Cross River North Senatorial District, emphasizing that his dedication and results have challenged the ruling party to deliver for the people.

Ibok urged Senator Jarigbe to be cautious of any move away from the PDP, warning that defecting to the APC could lead to short-term gains but long-term problems.

He stressed that the PDP’s commitment is to the people and democratic principles, not short-lived political bargains.

“We will not be defeated by defections. We will organize, rebuild, and mobilize. Our mission is clear: to remove APC from power in 2027 and to rescue our country from the destructive policies and centralization of power we see from Tinubu and his allies,” Ibok declared.

He called on PDP stakeholders to remain committed to building a strong opposition and reclaiming the trust of Nigerians at the polls, saying, “Let’s keep building an opposition that is principled, strategic, and ready to reclaim the trust of Nigerians at the polls in 2027.”
