The Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) on Wednesday declared that Cross River State is on the verge of emerging as a major oil-producing state, citing recent hydrographic findings and confirmations by relevant authorities.
The group made the assertion during a press briefing at the State Library Complex in Calabar as part of activities marking the forthcoming 25th anniversary of the physical coronation of its spiritual leader, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu.
The briefing also served as a formal announcement of a week-long programme lined up for the silver jubilee celebration, scheduled to commence on April 13, 2026.
Speaking, the BCS spokesman, Dr. Amah Williams, said the development aligned with earlier pronouncements by the organisation’s spiritual leader, which he claimed had continued to manifest over time.
He noted that Cross River, previously regarded as a non-oil-producing state, was witnessing a significant shift that could reposition it among Nigeria’s leading oil and gas producers.
Williams said, “Through recent advanced hydrographic mapping and confirmations by relevant agencies, Cross River State will soon emerge as a leading oil and gas-producing state in Nigeria.”
He added that the anniversary, themed “The Universal Monarch,” would feature a range of spiritual and humanitarian activities, including a global assembly of traditional rulers, medical outreach programmes, academic conferences, and musical concerts.
According to him, the grand finale of the celebration will hold on April 19 at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar, where Olumba Olumba Obu is expected to pronounce blessings on humanity.
The BCS spokesman also used the occasion to call for peace and unity ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning against violence and political intolerance.
“Only the will of God shall prevail. There is no need for conflict or bloodshed as the nation prepares for another election cycle,” he said.
Williams further urged leaders at all levels to embrace justice, compassion, and accountability, stressing that public office should not be used for personal enrichment.
He reiterated the organisation’s message of global peace, calling on nations to prioritise justice, equity, and reverence for God as pathways to lasting stability.
Also speaking, the Secretary-General Affairs of BCS, Biobarakuma Wangaha Degi, commended the media for its sustained support in projecting the organisation’s message of peace, love, and unity.
Degi described the silver jubilee as a significant global gathering aimed at promoting moral leadership and peaceful coexistence among nations.
He said the press briefing was designed to reach the global community, noting that journalists remain critical partners in advancing the ideals of unity and righteousness.
“Over the years, your commitment to truth, professionalism, and responsible journalism has significantly contributed to global awareness and understanding of our mission as a Christian organisation,” he said.
Degi likened the role of the media in Cross River State to that of Gamaliel, the biblical figure known for advocating wisdom and restraint, urging journalists to continue supporting the ideals of peace and unity.
He acknowledged that the organisation had faced challenges, including persecution and discrimination, but maintained that it had continued to grow in strength and global acceptance.
The BCS leadership reiterated its commitment to promoting practical Christianity, humanitarian services, and unconditional love for humanity.
The group also renewed its call for restraint and peaceful conduct ahead of the 2027 elections, emphasising the need to avoid actions that could threaten national unity.
The silver jubilee celebration is expected to attract participants from across Nigeria and beyond, including religious leaders, traditional rulers, and dignitaries from various sectors.
