The Chairman of Calabar Municipality Local Government Area, Hon. James Anam, has pledged to commission the newly constructed legislative chambers and council office complex by December.

This is part of his administration efforts as to strengthen grassroots governance and improve service delivery.

Anam made the disclosure on Monday during a solemn assembly held in Calabar to mark his administration’s one year in office. He said the move was in fulfilment of one of his major campaign promises to the people and the legislative arm of the council.

“By the grace of God, before the end of this year, we will commission our new legislative chambers and council office. When we came into office, we promised to give our lawmakers a befitting place to work, and to God’s glory, that promise is being fulfilled,” Anam stated.

The council boss noted that the new facilities would provide a more conducive environment for legislative business and administrative activities, adding that his administration was determined to ensure efficiency, transparency, and accountability in local governance.

Reflecting on his one year in office, Hon. Anam attributed the achievements of his administration to divine guidance and the collective effort of his team. He said Calabar Municipality had witnessed relative peace, unity, and developmental progress since he assumed office.

He commended members of the legislative council, political appointees, and civil servants for their commitment to duty, assuring them of continued welfare support and infrastructural improvement.

“Governance is not a child’s play, but with God on our side, we have achieved stability and progress. My office remains open to constructive ideas and criticism that can move the local government forward,” he added.

The thanksgiving event was attended by religious leaders, political appointees, council staff, and residents who joined the chairman in prayers and songs of gratitude, marking what he described as a year of peace, purpose, and progress in Calabar Municipality.
