August 25th, 2024 will always remain memorable in the minds of both PDP and APC in Awi Ward, Akamkpa LGA, Cross River State as over 100 members of PDP defected to the APC in Awi Ward.

Receiving the defectors, Pst. Patrick Asikpo Okon JP, the state secretary of the APC stated, “I want to thank the chapter chairman and the ward chairman and the entire board of trustees for these great political soldiers”.
Respectable ladies and gentlemen, they have decided to cross over and help our government to succeed. And I want to assure you, you have every privilege and right to spend from this moment as an APC member.
“There is no place like home. You are all APC members, nothing like old or new. And you are all welcome. Please, don’t come with a prepared mind to overthrow what you met on the ground. If you come with a prepared mind to overthrow what you met on the ground, there will be resistance from the constitution. But if you come to compliment and work in harmony, the privileges are enormous”.
“Today, you will received your cards and you received everything that belongs to you. On behalf of all of you, I want to welcome all of you to the table. It is a position that you have come to realize that there is more and there will be do more here”.
Asikpo warned against pull him down syndrome and cheap gossip. He welcome Mr. Collins, the former House of Assembly candidate of the PDP and Dr. Mrs. Angela Victor and others.
It was indeed an evening of excitement for the members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Awi Ward, Akamkpa LGA of Cross River State, to receive the former candidate for Akamkpa 1 state house of Assembly candidate of the People’s Democratic party (PDP) Mr. Collins Njok Adiegbe into their fold.
The event being attended by the APC Exco of Awi Ward, The State Exco of the Party, commissioners, Hon. (Ntufam) Anom, Commissioner for Livestock and Fishery, Hon. (Barr). Ijom Ukam, Comm. for Youth, villages heads, Special advisers to the Governor, party faithfuls etc. to witness the Defection of Mr. Collins Njok Adiegbe and over one hundred party faithfuls of the PDP including the ward Chairman of PDP Awi Ward into the APC.
Addressing the crowd, the ward Chairman, Prince Francis Itambo, expressed gratitude for a day of his dreams to have come to fulfillment, while he promised to give Mr. Collins Njok and his followers a level playing ground that will accommodate both old and new members. He further acknowledged Mr. Collins Njok as a bulldozer that will join force with them to win elections for the party.
Mr. Collins Njok Adiegbe, while addressing the crowd and his followers, he said “we are happy to be part of this new family, the All Progressive Congress, seeing what the governor have done, I think it will be best for me and my team to join force with APC in order to add more sweetness to wards, Local Government and the State. Over there at the other party, we were not happy and fulfilled, that’s why we decided to find a place where we’ll put in our best for visible growth and results, we have come to stay, and support the party to win elections in order move to a greater sweetness.”
In an interview with the Hon. Commissioner for youths development and skills acquisition, Hon. Barr. Ukam Ijom, expressed excitement over the massive defection of his friend Mr. Collins Njok and over a hundred others from his ward. Knowing Mr. Collins for who he is being a mover, he believes the political game in APC Awi and Akamkpa as a whole will experience positive change.
