President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sacked the country’s military Service Chiefs, announcing new appointments for the Army, Navy, and Air Force in a move aimed at boosting national security.
In a statement on Friday, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, said General Olufemi Oluyede has been appointed Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa.
Other key appointments include Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff. Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, retains his position.
President Tinubu commended the outgoing Service Chiefs for their “patriotic service and dedicated leadership,” while charging the new military leaders to justify the confidence reposed in them by improving professionalism, vigilance, and camaraderie in the Armed Forces
