Okon, who ran alongside chairmanship candidate Shedrach Ikpeme, reflected on their shared aspiration to serve the people of Calabar Municipal, acknowledging the divine hand that upheld him and his team every step of the way.
In a message of appreciation, Okon extended heartfelt thanks to all those who believed in their vision, from supporters who stood by them tirelessly to well-wishers who rooted for the Labour Party’s ideals of progressive leadership. He credited the trust and loyalty of his supporters as a motivating force, affirming that their confidence in his abilities would always hold a special place in his heart. Okon extended particular gratitude to the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, for fulfilling a long-awaited desire of the people of Cross River: a local government election that would allow the will of the people to be realised at the grassroots level. “I thank God for giving our Governor the wisdom to steer this state in a direction that lights the path to democracy and opportunity,” he said. Okon noted that such bold steps were only possible with visionary leadership that genuinely values the voice of the people.
The vice chairmanship candidate took a moment to congratulate all victorious candidates, especially Apostle James Anam, who emerged as the elected Chairman of Calabar Municipal Council. “I offer you my full support and best wishes as you embark on this noble journey of leading our Council,” Okon declared.
