The ceremony, held in the council hall at the council’s headquarters in Akamkpa, attracted prominent functionaries, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders who witnessed the event. The newly inaugurated cabinet members were assigned key portfolios, including Special Adviser on Security, Legal Adviser, and Special Adviser on Peace and Security, among others.

Key appointees included Christian Lawrence Attah as Secretary of the Council, Paulinus Ekpe Edet for Finance and Appropriation, Maurice Asengita for Health and Community Development, Ayang Williams for Environment, and Akposi Eyo Ikey for Agriculture. In his inaugural address, Hon. Akposi underscored the critical need for collaboration among the people of Akamkpa to achieve the administration’s goals. He urged the cabinet members to work cohesively with stakeholders to realise the vision for a prosperous local government.

“Our administration is focused on six core pillars: Good Governance and Accountability, Infrastructure and Economic Development, Education and Youth Empowerment, Healthcare and Social Welfare, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Security and Peacebuilding,” Akposi declared. He further noted that these priorities were grounded in principles of transparency, accountability, and inclusive growth.

The chairman outlined his administration’s mission, stating, “Our mantra, inspired by Mark 10:45, is simple yet powerful: ‘Serve the People.’ We are committed to advocating for the rights and needs of our people, empowering local communities through sustainable agricultural development, quality education, accessible healthcare, and strategic partnerships, while promoting peace and security.”

Hon. Akposi also pledged to ensure open governance, emphasising that all budget allocations and expenditures would be publicly disclosed to foster accountability. He highlighted plans to enhance infrastructure, including road development and local economic initiatives, to stimulate trade and connectivity.

He stressed the importance of investing in youth empowerment through education, vocational training, and scholarships, while promising initiatives such as irrigation schemes to support year-round farming and enhance food security.

Addressing security, he called on youths to shun violence, assuring the community of his commitment to strengthening community policing and fostering peacebuilding initiatives.

Barr. Erimo Akpat Ojong, speaking on behalf of the inaugurated cabinet members, expressed gratitude to the chairman for the opportunity to serve. “We are committed to delivering on our mandates and contributing to the progress of Akamkpa,” he pledged.
