The well-attended event took place at the Council Secretariat under the spiritual coordination of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Akamkpa Branch, led by Bishop (Dr) Martins Aquah. The Solemn Assembly continues to serve as a monthly platform for intercession, thanksgiving, and spiritual reawakening within the local government.

Present at the April edition were the Executive Chairman of Akamkpa Local Government Council, Hon. (Ophot) Felix Akposi KSJI, members of the Executive Council, the leadership of the 8th Legislative Assembly led by the Leader, Hon. (Princess) Magdalene Ekpe, as well as an array of notable Christian leaders.

In his address, Hon. Akposi reiterated his unwavering dedication to improving the lives of Akamkpa residents. He cited the recent palliative intervention on the Calabar–Oban–Ekang road as a necessary step to alleviate the suffering of the people, especially in the face of prolonged delays from the Federal Government. “The endless wait will only escalate the already tensed situation,” he said, adding that the local government had no choice but to act in the interest of the people.

The Chairman further announced ongoing efforts to provide potable water across forty communities in the LGA, noting that such interventions must be sustained through the empowerment of locals. “We must develop our people to take up responsibilities, as sustainability is essential in project management and human capital development,” he stated.

Hon. Akposi closed on a high note, assuring the people of Akamkpa of an inclusive and transparent administration. “I am here to serve the people, and this is one desire and path I won’t compromise for anything,” he affirmed.

Delivering the homily, Rev. Nkanu Ovai preached on the theme “Triumph Over Death”. He explored the tactics employed by the devil to instil fear through the concept of death, highlighting the victory and hope embedded in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. His message tied closely to the Lenten season and offered a powerful reminder of the redemptive power of God that touches all facets of life.

The monthly Solemn Assembly continues to inspire a spiritual rebirth in Akamkpa, anchoring leadership on divine guidance and community-focused service.
