The Chairman of Akamkpa Local Government Council, Hon. (Ophot) Felix Akposi KSJI, has embodied the spirit of Christmas by extending goodwill to an array of stakeholders across the council. In a grand celebration of the season, he shared the joy of Christ’s birth with State Appointees hailing from Akamkpa, Local Government Appointees, the Traditional Ruler’s Council, the ten political wards, councillors of the legislative chamber, council staff, and prominent figures from the region.

Notable among those present were the Member Representing Akamkpa I State Constituency, Hon. (Ntufam) Okon Owuna; Member Representing Akamkpa II State Constituency, Hon. Linus Etim; Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Ankpo Pius; Commissioner for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Ntufam Emmanuel Anom, and other distinguished personalities who joined in the festivities.

Hon. Akposi while addressing newsmen acknowledged the prevailing economic hardships, urging everyone to draw inspiration from the season’s deeper significance. “The birth of our Lord signifies the beginning of the redemptive and messianic promise of God to humanity. Let us embrace this as a time to reflect, to share, and to renew hope,” he remarked.

The Chairman charged attendees to reflect on the humility of their origins, stating that such recollections serve as a profound reminder of the interconnectedness of humanity. His words resonated deeply, urging a collective spirit of unity and compassion amidst the challenges of the times.

Underscoring his commitment to making the season memorable, Hon. Akposi distributed over a thousand bags of rice, accompanied by assorted cooking ingredients, to residents across the council. The generosity extended further with the distribution of live cattle, a gesture many described as unprecedented.

The Head of Administration, Mrs. Victoria Essien, lauded the chairman’s magnanimity, noting the historical significance of his actions. “From what I’ve gathered, it has been a long time since live cattle were tethered here in the council premises, but today we have seen more than three, in addition to those already distributed. Every unit has been recognised and accorded its due honour,” she observed.

Other beneficiaries echoed her sentiments, describing the Chairman’s benevolence as extraordinary. They expressed gratitude for a gesture that has transformed the 2024 Christmas celebrations into a season of joy and plenty.

Hon. Akposi’s actions have not only brought cheer to the people of Akamkpa but have also set a standard of leadership that prioritises the welfare and unity of all. His message of hope and his symbolic acts of generosity stand as a testament to his vision for a harmonious and prosperous Akamkpa Local Government Area.
