The National Working Committee and key stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) rose from an emergency meeting, with a resolution to convene a nationwide convergence of its coalition partners across the six geopolitical zones and all states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In his opening remarks, Chief Ralphs Nwosu, the National Chairman of the ADC, welcomed state chairmen and other stakeholders, emphasizing the urgent need to rescue Nigeria from the grip of nepotism, hunger, impunity, corruption, insecurity, insurgency, and poor governance. He urged attendees to view the growing momentum toward the ADC not as “business as usual,” but as a national call to duty.
Chief Nwosu stressed that political ideology and a genuine vision of nationhood must go beyond mere slogans and entitlement mindsets typified by the “It is my turn” narrative. He called on stakeholders to welcome Nigerians from all political backgrounds, including those with no political affiliations, underscoring that the challenges facing the nation amount to a national emergency that demands unity and collective action.
Other members of the National Executive Committee echoed the need for inclusiveness and transparency throughout the coalition process. They also cautioned participants to remain vigilant, warning that entrenched interests, though a minority, would resist change. These groups, having cornered public resources for personal gain, are expected to fight back to maintain their grip on power.
The convergence of coalition partners across the country is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, May 29th, 2025.
