His Eminence, Archbishop Josef Bassey, the Archbishop of Calabar and Spiritual Leader of God’s Heritage Centres Worldwide, has extolled the virtuous life and legacy of the late Bishop Dr. Enobong Affiah, the founding Pastor and Presiding Bishop of Life Covenant Ministries, who was laid to rest today, 14th September, 2024..
Reflecting on the life of the departed, Archbishop Bassey described Bishop Affiah as an exemplary hero of faith, a man deeply devoted to God, a passionate worshipper, and a prolific songwriter. He lauded him as a “father of fathers,” a pillar of hope, a dedicated pastor, and a formidable general in God’s army. “He was a revered senior brother and a trusted laborer in whom there was no guile,” the Archbishop said.
In his tribute, His Eminence remarked, “One of the priceless blessings I have had in my life as a Christian has been the privilege of knowing and experiencing the life and ministry of Bishop Affiah. His impact and contributions to the advancement of the Kingdom of God in Cross River State and beyond are phenomenal. I worked closely with Bishop Affiah, and I can say unequivocally that he lived and departed as a gallant soldier of the Cross, with a largely blameless episcopal and personal lifestyle worth emulating,” he stated.
Archbishop Bassey further emphasized Bishop Affiah’s unwavering dedication to ministry. “I can also state that Dr. Affiah’s commitment, dedication, and passion for ministry were total and outstanding by any ecclesiastical measure. If you had him as a pastor, you had a pastor indeed. If you had him as a brother, you had a brother indeed. And if you had him as a friend, then you had a friend indeed,” he added.
As President of the Cross River State Christian Leaders Forum, Archbishop Bassey found solace in the fact that Bishop Affiah left behind his wife, Pastor Eme Affiah, a “virtuous Jesus lady,” respected minister, and astute administrator. He praised her leadership and assured that her capabilities, along with other leaders, would preserve Bishop Affiah’s legacy and continue the ministry he established.
Speaking on behalf of the Eniong Abatim Christian Community, the Archbishop expressed his confidence in the extraordinary strength of women from the Eniong Abatim community, such as Pastor Eme, especially in overcoming difficult challenges like widowhood. He prayed for divine strength to rest upon Pastor Eme Affiah and the entire family, assuring them that no gate of Hell would prevail against them as they continue to carry forward the work of God.
It is noteworthy that Bishop Dr. Enobong Affiah, who was called to glory at the age of 68, was interred today following a week of funeral rites at the family house, church, and the International Conference Centre in Calabar. May his soul rest in peace.
