The National Vice President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Archbishop Dr Emmah Isong, has said that the ongoing familiarisation tour of the South-South zone by a high-powered delegation of clerics will not only strengthen internal ties but also foster deeper unity and collaboration among PFN members across the region.
Speaking during a telephone interview in Calabar shortly after a virtual stakeholders’ meeting concluded yesterday, Archbishop Isong explained that the delegation has embarked on a strategic tour of the six states in the South-South geopolitical zone to reawaken the fellowship spirit among PFN members and reconnect with faith-based leadership structures in the area.
According to him, “The familiarisation tour to the six states of the South-South zone will strengthen ties and foster collaboration among PFN members. It is also a move to re-energise our presence and reaffirm our shared commitment to the unity of the Body of Christ in this region.”
The tour, which began with visits to Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers states, is scheduled to continue through Bayelsa, Delta, and will round off in Edo State on July 16, 2025. The initiative has been described as one of the most coordinated outreach efforts by the PFN in recent years within the region.
Offering further insight, the Zonal Secretary of PFN, Pastor Samuel Ukweni PhD, noted that the visit presents a vital opportunity for the National Vice President and his team to engage with spiritual leaders and PFN chapters in the zone, thereby rekindling the sense of unity and shared purpose.
“The familiarisation tour to the zone will afford the high-powered delegation of clerics the opportunity to strengthen ties, foster collaboration, and provide opportunities for fellowship among PFN members,” Ukweni said. He added that the initiative also aims to reinforce institutional engagement between PFN and key political and religious figures in each state.
As part of the itinerary, Archbishop Isong and his entourage are expected to pay courtesy visits to governors, notable fathers of faith, and other stakeholders in each of the states. These visits, according to the PFN leadership, are integral to building strategic alliances and fostering a harmonious relationship between the church and government institutions.
A letter titled “PFN South-South National Vice President Visit” from the Office of the National Vice President and signed by Pastor Ukweni has been sent to all state liaison officers. The letter appeals to state chairmen and liaison officers to collaborate closely in ensuring the success of the visit.
The document stated, “Officials of PFN in the states should do the necessary arrangements for the reception of the National Vice President. They should endeavour to fix appointments with their state governors, fathers of faith and mobilise for the prayer rally, which shall strictly be handled by the states.”
It further urged PFN leaders in all six South-South states to cooperate and adjust their calendars as necessary to accommodate the national delegation, emphasising the importance of collective responsibility and unity of purpose.
“Kindly adjust your state programs and personal schedules to accommodate and facilitate this important fellowship,” the letter maintained.
The tour’s key highlight will be a two-hour prayer rally in each state, featuring two to three choirs and drawing participation from PFN pastors, executives, and members for a time of spiritual refreshing, worship, and corporate intercession. These rallies are expected to ignite spiritual revival and provide a platform for communal worship and interaction.
In his concluding remarks, Pastor Ukweni charged liaison officers and state chairmen to take ownership of the mobilisation process, noting that all logistical and organisational responsibilities for the rallies and courtesy engagements lie with the respective states.
