The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has opened its new secretariat in Cross River State.
The group described the development as a milestone in strengthening democracy and fostering collaboration among political parties in the state.
Speaking at the ceremony held on Thursday at Adsuit Hotel, Calabar, IPAC Chairman, Edet Okon, said the establishment of the secretariat underscores the council’s commitment to deepening democracy, promoting good governance, and ensuring that the voices of the people are heard.
“Today, we celebrate a milestone achievement – the establishment of our own secretariat complex. This is a testament to our commitment to institutionalizing IPAC and strengthening our capacity to engage with government and other stakeholders,” Okon said.
While praising Governor Bassey Otu for his “uncommon leadership and unwavering support” for the council, Okon described him as a visionary leader dedicated to peace, stability, and progress in the state.
On her part, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Inter-Party Affairs, Nkoyo Otu, commended the governor for his transformational leadership in less than three years in office. She highlighted achievements such as the construction of new roads in urban and rural areas, the inauguration of the State Library, agricultural support programs, and grants aimed at boosting human capital development.
According to Nkoyo Otu, the launch of the IPAC secretariat reflects the cordial relationship between the council and the state government. “This special act of support is a testament to the Governor’s commitment to strengthening governance and putting the people first,” she said.
She further urged political parties to continue working together in a spirit of unity and cooperation as preparations for the 2027 elections begin.
