The Chairman of Akamkpa Local Government Council, Hon. (Ophot) Felix Akposi, KSJI, has reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive leadership by celebrating Christmas with People Living With Disability (PLWD) in the council. The event, held at the local government council hall, symbolised the chairmanโs determination to ensure that no segment of society is left behind in the quest for growth, unity, and shared prosperity.
Addressing a cross-section of the PLWD community, Hon. Akposi extolled their unwavering resilience and steadfast resolve to overcome lifeโs challenges. He commended their ability to rise above limitations, describing their efforts as a remarkable display of strength and determination. โI am deeply touched by your take-charge spirit,โ he remarked. โYour resolve to forge ahead with artisanal skills and entrepreneurial initiatives amidst difficulties is both inspiring and commendable.โ
In the spirit of Christmas, the chairman assured the gathering of his administrationโs continuous support. While distributing bags of rice and monetary gifts to mark the occasion, he emphasised the importance of inclusivity in governance. โBe assured that you are not forgotten,โ he said. โThis meeting underscores my administrationโs commitment to your welfare. As we expand government operations, a representative from among you will be included to ensure your voices are heard and your concerns addressed.โ
Hon. Akposi, however, cautioned against misusing their circumstances for illicit activities. He urged the PLWD community to channel their energies positively, steering clear of social vices such as drug-related offences and aiding criminal activities. โOur plan is to make life better for everyone in Akamkpa, and this includes you,โ he stated emphatically.
In their responses, Pastor Agbor and Mr. Bossman Ekuri expressed profound gratitude to the chairman for his thoughtful gesture. They lauded his practical and empathetic leadership, noting that this was the first time any local government chairman in Akamkpa had reached out to their community physically. They assured him of their unwavering support and prayers, describing his actions as a landmark in fostering inclusivity and hope.
