Cross River State has received another boost in its sanitation drive as the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), through its state representative, Rt. Hon. Orok Duke, donated 79 additional waste bins to the state government.

The latest consignment, received in Calabar by the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Moses Osogi, brings the total number of bins so far donated by the commission to over 200. The initiative is aimed at reinforcing the state’s commitment to environmental hygiene and its longstanding reputation as a clean and green destination for tourism and investment.

Rt. Hon. Duke, who facilitated the donation, noted that the NDDC’s support aligns with Cross River’s environmental policies. “These bins are part of our contribution to support the state’s sustained efforts in maintaining proper waste management,” he stated, adding that “Cross River, as a tourism hub, deserves a clean and healthy environment.”

He assured the people of the state that no effort will be spared to ensure they receive all entitlements due them from the commission. “Under my watch, Cross River will not be shortchanged. We will get everything that rightly belongs to us,” he declared confidently.

Duke also used the occasion to appeal for responsible usage of the bins by residents. “These facilities are public assets. I urge citizens to make proper use of them and protect them from vandalism or illegal conversion for personal use by unscrupulous individuals,” he warned.

With this intervention, the NDDC continues to demonstrate a strong partnership with the state government in areas of public health and environmental sustainability.
