In a strong testament to impartial observation and credible civil engagement, a Coalition of Civil Society Organizations has scored the Executive Chairman of Akamkpa Local Government Area, Hon. (Ophot) Felix Akposi-KSJI, very high for his strides in security and people-oriented programmes.

Presenting a Certificate of Credence on Leadership and Good Governance to the Council Boss dated the 19th of March 2025, in the Chairman’s office, in Akamkpa Local Government Council on the 3rd of April, 2025, the coalition cited “superlative performance, administrative ingenuity, and selfless services to humanity” as key indicators of his remarkable stewardship.

Hon. Akposi was very emotional. He thanked the Coalition for finding him worthy adding that though he knew about several observatory organizations monitoring their progress as Chairmen, but he didn’t know that his little efforts had gone a long way and has been recognised.

“I dedicate this award to God Almighty, the Governor of Cross River State, HE. Sen. Apostle Prince Bassey Edet Otu and the people of Akamkpa Local Government Area”.

“We continue to bring democratic dividends to our people guided by our campaign mantra, ‘Serve the People’. This is where we draw our strength from”, he concluded.

During the presentation ceremony, the spokesperson for the coalition, Comr. Caleb James emphasised that the assessment was devoid of political bias or personal interests. “Our evaluation was based strictly on observable indices and verifiable impact on the people,” he stated.

Among the standout achievements noted by the civil society group are the Chairman’s unwavering commitment to grassroots security, continuous road grading and earth works across the LGA, the establishment of an oil palm nursery to supply seedlings to local farmers, and the commissioning of a state-of-the-art 12-unit lock-up store complex.

In addition, the coalition commended the geophysical surveys carried out in 35 communities as part of a forward-looking plan to improve access to potable water in the area, describing the move as “a strategic investment in human dignity and public health.”

The certificate presentation was not only symbolic but a public affirmation of responsive and accountable leadership, which the coalition urged other council administrators to emulate.

With the honour from the civil society body, Hon. Akposi joins a rare list of local government chairmen recognised not for political affiliation but for measurable delivery of good governance and community development.
