The Senior Pastor of Grace Network Evangelical Outreach, also known as Grace Consulate, Lawrence Agbata has revealed that over 100,000 persons have benefitted from the church’s Free Food Centre within the last 48 weeks.
Agbata made the disclosure during the church’s Sunday service at its headquarters on 39 Chamley Street, Calabar, Cross River State.
He said the feeding programme, which began over a decade ago, was expanded in November 2024 into a daily feeding initiative in a bid to reach more people in need.
“The feeding programme has no religious inclinations. Being a member of our church is not even a condition. We open our doors and let people in to eat daily, no matter where they are coming from,” he stated.
The cleric said the programme will clock one year in November 2025, adding that the church plans to scale it across all 18 local government areas of the state.
“It’s not a show, it’s not a handout, it’s our lifestyle. We want to take it across the three senatorial districts of the state, to the 18 LGAs,” he said.
He also emphasised that the meals served are prepared with high nutritional value to ensure beneficiaries receive proper nourishment.
Agbata reiterated the church’s commitment to tackling hunger without discrimination, saying the programme is open to all members of the public, regardless of religion or affiliation.
