The Nigerian Army troops of 63 Brigade has rescued four kidnapped victims during a raid on kidnapper’s hideout in Ugbolu Forest in Delta State.
The Assistant Director of Army Public Relations Major Emmanuel Onoja who disclosed this through a statement on Wednesday said the kidnap victims were held captives for several days, with the kidnappers demanding for “Significant ransom for their release “.
He explained that the success was possible following credible intelligence leading to a fierce gun battle between the troops and the kidnappers.
According to the director, the rescued victims received necessary medical attention and support before being reunited with their families.
“Troops of the 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, successfully rescued four kidnap victims during a raid on a kidnappers’ hideout in Ugbolu Forest, Delta State, on Monday, December 9, 2024. Acting on credible intelligence, the troops launched the operation and engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle. The rescued victims received necessary medical attention and support before being reunited with their families.
“Reports indicate that the victims had been held captive in the forest for several days, with the kidnappers demanding significant ransom amounts for their release. The swift and coordinated action of the troops thwarted the criminals’ plans and brought relief to the victims and their families.”-It reads.
While the commending the troops for their actions, Major Emmanuel urged members of thr public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to Security agencies.
“The Nigerian Army continues to urge members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies promptly. The 63 Brigade remains committed to eliminating all forms of criminality in Delta State and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.”
