The Executive Chairman of Akamkpa Local Government Area, Ntufam (Ophot) Felix Akposi (KSJI), has commended the Honourable Member representing Akamkpa II State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Linus Bassey Etim, for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to youth and educational development.

Hon. Akposi, who gave the commendation during the Educational Support Program organized by Hon. Etim in Oban town, applauded the lawmaker for investing in the academic growth of final-year students of various tertiary institutions across the state. He described the gesture as “a noble investment in the future of Akamkpa,” emphasizing that education remains the most sustainable tool for community transformation and human capital development.

The Chairman urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the financial support, channeling it toward their studies and personal development. He stressed that education is not merely a personal achievement but “a service to humanity and a pathway to community progress.”

Reaffirming the Council’s readiness to partner with the legislator on development-driven initiatives, Hon. Akposi stated that his administration is firmly committed to education, youth empowerment, and community development. He added that his government’s agenda is anchored on unity and peace, calling on the students to reciprocate the lawmaker’s goodwill by remaining law-abiding, engaging in meaningful ventures, and supporting government programs and policies.

The Council Boss further appealed to the youths to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise, reminding them that active participation in governance begins with being registered to vote.

In his welcome address, Hon. Linus Bassey Etim expressed gratitude to God for granting him the opportunity to impact lives through education. He noted that genuine giving stems from the heart and not from surplus, emphasizing that education remains the bedrock of any progressive society.

Hon. Etim also seized the moment to enlighten the students on the distinction between the Executive and Legislative arms of government, stressing that both institutions play complementary roles in driving grassroots development. He commended the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, for his inclusive governance style and for prioritizing Akamkpa in his developmental blueprint — particularly reflected in the appointment of two commissioners from the area to oversee Works and Agriculture (Aquaculture and Fisheries).

The event, which drew a cross-section of dignitaries and stakeholders, had in attendance the Vice Chairman of Council, Hon. Katame Emelia; the Leader of Council, Hon. Princess Magdalene Ekpe; Ward Councillors; political appointees from both state and local government levels; traditional rulers; and members of the community.

They all commended Hon. Linus Etim for his benevolence, foresight, and enduring commitment to educational advancement within Akamkpa Constituency II.

The program concluded with heartfelt expressions of gratitude from the beneficiaries, who pledged to make good use of the support and to continue to be worthy ambassadors of Akamkpa in their respective institutions.
