Iwuru Central, Akamkpa LGA
The Chairman of Akamkpa Local Government Council, Hon. (Ophot) Felix Akposi โ KSJI, has officially launched the drilling of a borehole in Iwuru Central, marking the commencement of a major water supply initiative targeting 35 communities across the local government.

The project, which is being executed in partnership with the Rural Water and Sanitation Agency (RUWATSSA), is fully funded by the Hon. Felix Akposi-led administration. It is part of the Chairmanโs commitment to ensuring sustainable access to clean and safe water for rural dwellers.
While speaking on the project, the Chairman of Akamkpa Local Government Council, Hon. Akposi expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve and reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of his people.
โMy promise to Akamkpa is anchored in God, hence my decision to advance my campaign mantra of โServe My Peopleโ,โ he stated.
The borehole drilling initiative, he explained, is a direct response to the pressing water needs of various communities, especially during the dry season.
Receiving the drilling team, the Village Head of Iwuru Central, His Highness Ophot Paulinus Mbong, thanked the Chairman for what he described as a timely and impactful intervention.
โWe have seen different chairmen of council come and go, but the current Chairman has touched us where it matters most. The challenges we face during the dry season are enormous, but this project has brought succour to us.
We will take ownership of the project and ensure that everything is kept in order,โ the traditional ruler pledged.
Speaking on the technical aspects, Mr. Theophilos Abri, the lead geologist on the project, assured the community of sustainable results. He revealed that thorough geophysical tests were conducted during the dry season to ensure optimal borehole depth and yield.
โWe studied the aquifer formations to determine areas of high yield. This standard will be maintained across all other boreholes we drill for the local government,โ Mr. Abri said.
The initiative is seen as one of the boldest rural water interventions in recent years within the council area and is expected to significantly reduce water-related hardships across the 35 beneficiary communities.
