Enugu State APC Group demands dismissal of minister amidst scandals

In a bold move that has stirred the political landscape, the Enugu Progressive Ambassadors, a notable support faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, has openly called for the immediate dismissal of Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology. The group’s outcry stems from what they term as a “shameful and unworthy” representation of the state’s APC contingent within the presidential cabinet.

The call for action was made during a press conference held in Enugu, where the group expressed their profound disappointment with Chief Nnaji’s conduct since assuming office. According to the Ambassadors, instead of fortifying the party’s foundations in the state, Nnaji has been instrumental in sowing seeds of discord, thereby threatening the unity and solidarity previously enjoyed by the party members.

Chief Tochukwu Obinna, the spokesperson for the Enugu Progressive Ambassadors, did not mince words as he addressed the media. He labeled Chief Nnaji as a “scandalous minister,” unfit to represent the APC at the ministerial level. Obinna highlighted the gravity of the situation by revealing that Nnaji allegedly possesses a fraudulent national service certificate, casting a shadow over the integrity of the APC in Enugu State.

The group’s grievances are rooted in the belief that Chief Nnaji’s tenure as minister has been marked by controversy and internal strife within the APC. They accuse him of being the architect behind numerous party crises, leveraging his ministerial role to wreak havoc rather than to serve the interests of the state.

Moreover, the Ambassadors allege that Nnaji’s actions have driven many loyal party members to the brink of defection, with his involvement in drug promotion and other illicit activities serving as the final straw. These accusations are not mere hearsay, as the group insists that evidence of Nnaji’s misdemeanors is widely acknowledged within the state.

In a direct appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Enugu Progressive Ambassadors implored the nation’s leader to take swift and decisive action to prevent further damage to the party’s reputation. They urged the president to replace Nnaji with a figure of credibility and loyalty, someone capable of restoring and rebuilding the APC’s presence in Enugu State.

The group’s demands extend beyond mere replacement; they seek a thorough investigation and subsequent prosecution of Chief Nnaji for his alleged forgery of a national service certificate. This step, they believe, is crucial for preserving the party’s integrity and ensuring its success in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

As the Enugu Progressive Ambassadors stand firm in their stance, the political atmosphere in Enugu State remains charged with anticipation. The group’s demands have set the stage for President Tinubu’s response, which could have far-reaching implications for the APC’s future in the state and the nation at large. The unfolding events will undoubtedly be watched closely by political analysts and party loyalists alike, as the quest for integrity and reform within the APC continues to gain momentum.

As of the moment of this publication, efforts to reach out to the minister for comments have not been successful. We hope to get a response from him to keep the public abreast of any developments.
