Officials from the Tourism Volunteers Network, Cross River State Chapter, recently paid a courtesy visit to Honourable Chief Robert Abubakar Ewa, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture. The meeting aimed to establish a collaborative partnership with the ministry to drive tourism growth in the state.
During the meeting, Honourable Chief Robert Abubakar Ewa addressed the delegation led by Ambassador Nton Nton Bassey. He highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the state’s tourism sector. “Cross River State, blessed with the highest number of tourist sites and immense potential, is a priority for the administration of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu,” Ewa stated. He emphasized the government’s commitment to building a viable tourism sector, including the introduction of eco-tourism to boost visitor traffic and economic activities, ultimately fostering wealth creation for the people of Cross River.
Mr. Daniel Akeke, the Director of Tourism in the ministry, commended the volunteers for their dedication to tourism development and encouraged them to serve as exemplary ambassadors for the state.
The commissioner assured the volunteers of the ministry’s readiness to partner with the Tourism Volunteers Network to achieve excellence in tourism promotion, aligning with Governor Otu’s vision. “Our ministry is committed to working closely with you to promote tourism and achieve the governor’s vision for the state,” Ewa added.
Ambassador Nton Nton Bassey, State Coordinator of the Tourism Volunteers Network, expressed the network’s commitment to supporting the government’s efforts in tourism development. “The Tourism Volunteers Network, Cross River State Chapter, remains committed to supporting the government’s efforts in tourism development. Our dedication extends beyond Cross River State, encompassing Nigeria and Africa, as we strive to promote global tourism,” Bassey remarked.
The delegation included Ambassador Francis, Director of Programmes; Ambassador Nsed Gift, Chief Security Officer; and the Director of Media. Members from across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state were also present.
Ambassador Francis informed the commissioner about an upcoming event, the FIRST EVER TOURISM PICNIC OF CROSS RIVER STATE, designed to showcase and promote the state’s tourism potential.
